Cockroaches have always been disregarded by homeowners because they seem creepy. It is healthy to effectively control cockroaches in the home, because they cause reactions and prompt asthma attacks mostly in kids. They are said to transfer series of bacterial infections including Salmonella and E. coli.
Of all the cockroaches known to infest houses, the American cockroach is the largest. Though it is called the American Cockroach, it is not from North America, but probably was shipped from African in the 1600s.
These species get their name from their light bands crossing their dark brownish bodies. The males have complete wings reaching beyond their pointed abdomen, while the females are restricted from flying because their wings are underdeveloped. These cockroaches have a lifespan of about 206 days.
This is in-arguably the most popular species of cockroach. The German cockroaches can produce as high as six generations within a year. They can go through a space of as narrow as 3/8 inch width.
These are said to have North African origin, regardless of their name. Their characteristics give them other names like ‘waterbugs’ and black beetle cockroaches. Oriental cockroaches are renowned for their very offensive odor.
